Okay, so we all know that by night we're all bad-ass, zombie killers saving the world from invasion. But what's your day job? What pays the bills? I'm curious to know. I'm an Account Manager for a national janitorial company. We have contracts with national retailers, medical facilities, etc. and my job is to subcontract to local cleaning companies in various states and monitor their quality of work. Loads of fun - especially when I have to try and find a local cleaning company interested in cleaning a 5,000 square foot facility for $35 per clean.

I totally sympathize with your efforts to get the business 'legit'. For me that was and still is the hardest part. I'm an artist not a 'businessman' per se, and it is the biggest pain in the butt to have to do that stuff!!! I've been doing this for years and recently swithced my business structure to an LLC. Aaargh! More paperwork! More crap! Less drawing time! It's such a necessary evil. But best of luck to you! It's always good to hear when someone gives it a go on their own. It sucks too that it's almost impossible to get any kind of credit right now. I'm financing everyone on my own right now from side jobs and such. BTW:An LLC puts less on YOU, if something happens to go south, while with an S or C corp.... Buyers, Distributers, Banks, ect can and usually will, go directly after you and everything you own, and the business owns.

As I started to grow and accept credit cards and such, traveling doing cons. etc., it was waaaay to much liability to have as a sole proprieter. I needed to have my personal assests removed from the liability of the business. And DelValParanormal, as much as it makes it a pain in the ass to not be able to get credit to grow, I admire you for busting your ass and doing side work to find the cash to keep going. I've actually been thinking of going into that business myself. There's a lot of competition, but working where I do has given me a lot of knowledge on how to cut costs and increase profits, how to gain immediate business, good chemicals to use, etc. Unfortunately, I work full-time and can't afford to go part-time. When I start up the business I may have to initially be a silent partner until I'm able to go part-time.

I start this course one week after MMCon 12. Hopefully, after I finish the course, I'll be able to find, with the help of the school's job placement department, a part-time or full-time position in bartending. In June of 2005, for six weeks (as the position was a contract position), I worked for TYCO FIRE & BUILDING PRODUCTS as an AutoCAD Designer, where I, using 3-D Autocad, designed piping fixtures that would be designed and used for Fire Sprinklers. From September 2005 to May 2006, I worked for EWINGCOLE as an AutoCAD Draftsman, where I, using 2-D AutoCAD, designed plumbing fixtures for many major business, such as NASA, Foxchase Cancer Center, Alcon Facilities, Deborah Heart & Lung Center, & other major businesses. From March 2007 to July 2007, I worked for VERTICAL TRANSPORTATION EXCELLENCE (VTX), an AutoCAD department within GANNETT FLEMING, as an AutoCAD Designer, where I, using 2-D AutoCAD, designed elevator cabs for many transportation companies, such as SEPTA, NJ Transit, and others. I met him fifteen years ago. I was told that there was nothing left, no reason, no conscience, no understanding, even the rudimentary sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong. I met this six-year-old child with this blank, pale emotionless face and...the blackest eyes...the Devil's eyes. I spent eight years trying to reach him, and then another seven trying to keep him locked up because I realized that what was living behind that boy's eyes was purely and simply...evil. In order to appease the gods, the Druid priests held fire rituals. Prisoners of war, criminals, the insane, animals... were... burned alive in baskets. By observing the way they died, the Druids believed they could see omens of the future. Two thousand years later, we've come no further. Samhain isn't evil spirits. It isn't goblins, ghosts or witches. It's the unconscious mind. We're all afraid of the dark inside ourselves.

I think I'm going to go the LLC route. Right now, I have 2 close friends who 'work' for me and as much as I trust them and such, I don't want to lose everything I have because they go somewhere and break things. I've been able to charge low prices because I have very little overhead. Good luck to you if you do decide to go into business yourself. What made you decide to make a switch? It is a BIG switch, LOL!!! I guess I just felt that I really need and want a change of scenery. Working on computers is really cool, but I really want to try my hand at something different, and I thought that bartending seems like a really fun job to do. Plus, I heard that the $$$ is really, really, really, really good. I met him fifteen years ago. Posts: 228 Feb 18 09 9:42 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	It can be, but it's a lot like waitressing. Some nights you'll make bank, other nights you'll make nothing. It really depends on where you work. I used to know someone that bartended at the Convention Center and he came home with $200 cash on a bad night. Then again, he had a couple years experience and knew how to do a lot of bottle tricks before he got that job. On the other hand, you could probably get a job in the city and make enough on the weekends to compensate for what you lose when it's dead. Not trying to discourage - just offering what I know. = )
