After beating such a heated rival it's hard getting up for another team unless it's for the cup finals!

Devils in post-seasons past against the local teams

Rangers - Swept out of their first playoffs in 8 yrs.

Flyers - Best chance to win the cup in years was in 2000 and it was derailed when the Devils came back from a 3 GAMES TO 1 DEFICIT to win the series.

Penguins - Never worried about facing them in the past usually good success including going throught them and the Flyers for our very first cup.

Selective memories?????? The Rangers beat the Devils in 4 out of the 5 playoff series we played against each other including beating Broudeur 3 out of 4 times. You can say what you want as the last 15 years you have a LOT more to show for then we do but don't say you dominate us in the playoffs. You mentioned the one playoff series you beat us. That is a selective memory.

I never said we dominated the rangers in the playoffs!!! I even acknowledge the fact that they beat us last year. But I was pointing out something recent. I didn't list ALL of the playoff meetings between us and the local teams just kept to significant, recent examples.I know we have had tougher times against them in the past. 97 prob. bothered me more than 94 especially cause 94 was a load of crap because there was a goal that should have been disallowed under old rules because of a crease violation by the rangers! But like you said we have had alot more success against in the last 15 years, and let us not forget the regular season unbeaten streak against the rangers that lasted I believe like 6 seasons. And just looking at the two teams as a whole we are the more successful team overall. In our short history we only have one less cup and hell for years there was only a handful of teams for the rangers to have to beat. Then you figure in all our division titles, constant contention for the cup, conference titles, 100point seasons and so forth we have accomplished more in a shorter period of time. And always without trying to buy the cup!!!!!

I was even impressed for a second with rangers like a couple seasons ago. It genuinely looked like the rangers were gonna concentrate on youth and building depth in their system and less attempting to buy the cup! I was impressed, then back to the same old same old. With the same results I see. Seems like some dogs really do never learn. Glad you got rid of Renney though although Tortarella is just as big a dick. oh and Avery really is a HUGE douc*e! The crap he pulled tonight just made it even more apparent.

Hell I even mentioned that NEITHER team should want a playoff meeting unless it's for conference finals, definately not first round. But NEVER said we dominate the in the playoffs.

I wouldn't say dominate, you won the series 4-2 in '95 and 4-3 in 2000. Flyers won 4-1 in '04. So technically they're 9-9 in the playoffs

Too bad the Flyers couldn't get one point in two games against the Rangers. Now you have to go on the road to Pittsburgh instead of having home ice in the first round. Hope that doesn't hurt your chances. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yeah so I was wrong about the Caps prediction. But, that is the point of a prediction, it's a guess and you can be wrong. In hindsight after I posted I was most bothered by that one seeing as a sweep is really hard to come by. So I'll have to ammend it

Caps in 6.

I even can concede that the Habs prediction is kinda out there, but with how well they were playing going in to the playoffs I really like their chance for an upset. And, I kinda think Thomas will show his inexperience in High pressure situations.

Hell after tonights results I might have to make another ammendment. The sweep in the East could go to the Pens. Very lopsided. More than I anticipated. The Caps / Rangers game was closer than I expected. The Caps need to work better defensively. Lundquist is better that Theodore but the offense of the Caps is better than the Rangers and especially if Drury doesn't make it back soon. But Theodore could still have some game stealers left in him!!!

My pointless picks:

PHILLY VS PITT

Pens in 6. Malkin and Crosby are going to have alot of pressure put on them. They'll come through this round.

BOSTON VS MONTREAL

Boston sweeps!! I had to pick one sweep for the first round. The Canadiens have been to all over the place this year. Boston hasnt been great in a long time. So I see the B's really hammering on the Canadiens.

CAPS VS NYR

The Rangers won tonight. But I think the Caps will pull it off in 6 games. They'll bounce back big next game. The Caps had an early exit last year. So, I think they'll pull it together. I see the NYR having to many penalties.

CANES VS DEVILS

I see the Canes coming out in 7. They have been to hot lately. Unless Marty B. catches lightning in a bottle. Then the whole Eastern Conference will have problems.

SHARKS VS. ANAHIEM

I guess I'll go with the Sharks in 6. But, I wouldnt be surprised if the Ducks win this one. The Sharks have a bad playoff track record. Some seasons they where unstoppable until they made the playoffs. So I could see an upset.

DETROIT VS CBJ

Detroit in 6. The Wings have to much fire power. The Det. goaltending is shakey. Osgood has proven he can win the cup though. I think he can do it again. Its the Jackets first trip to the playoffs. I dont see them pulling of a great upset. Mason is good but he'll be facing to many shots.

CANUCKS VS BLUES

The Canucks got Sundin for a reason. I see them winning in 6. The Blues are good. But not good enough to beat Luongo and the Canucks. The Canucks arent as good as they should be though.

BLACKHAWKS VS FLAMES

Its tough. Both teams are kind of scary. They have the potential to really kick into the next gear. I gotta go with Chicago in 7. They stuck with thier young players for awhile and it paid off.

As of now I predict a Detroit vs Washington Stanley Cup.
