I'm gonna be first, even though I'm not new - figure it's a good way for the 'fresh meat' to get to know who's who. My name is David - I'm a 33 year old counseling psychologist, working in a high school. My wife and I live near the Jersey shore in a tiny little town nobody has ever heard of. In addition to helping my students with their problems (and you wouldn't BELIEVE the stuff they tell me) I also teach creative writing. My latest screenplay is in the hands of a production company in New York and I'm waiting....god, I'm waiting...for them to figure out budget and other such issues and get rolling.  I love anything ocean-based, comic books, regular books, Star Wars, collecting props, collecting Superman junk and...of course...horror movies of almost any type. This convention is the best - the best run, the best guests, the best fans. No joke. I've been to a LOT of shows and this is King, hands down, ring the bell, go to commercial, game over. Welcome, new folks, one and all. Stay with us, even when there's no show right around the corner. We're a good bunch. |

John here. I'm a quiet, shy, stay in the background type person. (  ) I'm 44 and work as an engineer at a modular plant here in Pennsylvania.While waiting for one of Dave's fantastic conventions to come along, I'm usually watching horror movies, collecting "Hellraiser" figures, stocking up on "Bounty", and keeping myself well rounded and down to earth!  Like ZenBird said, "Welcome all"!!! We're all just one big, dysfunctional family in here.   |

I'm the guy with an opinion on EVERYTHING. You won't see me posting too much but I lurk...boy howdy do I lurk. Out of everyone here I'm probably the least biggest fan of horror. I worked this out the other day and I seem to like horror as a genre but generally dislike almost every new film nor have I sit down and watched most of the classics. (Exorcist, Poltergeist, Candyman, of the Dead movies, Hellraiser, Jason, Michael...etc.) I am currently involved in a film sim called Film Tycoon. It'd be super neat if you gave us a try. It's a natural fit for anyone that loves writing or movies in general. I've been to 2 of Dave's Monster-Mania Cons and had my share of fun. I think I enjoy the trip more than anything else. I've been on the board for...I dunno feels like forever. You'll never find a group of nicer people. Seriously. These people will nice you to death. I look forward to eventually meeting them since I chickened out last time. Basically, any new person reading this should know one thing. If you want to view Paradise then simply look around and view it. We may bump heads on occasion but I think of this place as my extended family. I hope that soon you will too. - Jimmy Russell |

Hi once again! My name is Tom and I'm probably one of the oldest if not the oldest member of this group(57 in Feb)Since
finding this group I feel like I've discovered a second home.I'm disabled so I spend a lot of time on the computer.I have been in to the Horror scene since I was a little kid and I collect autographed photos of Horror actors,make-up artist,etc.This May will be my first Monster Mania Con and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of my friends here in person. Please post as much as you like as were a very friendly bunch and love to no whats going on with our fellow members. Once again welcome aboard and a Very Happy & Healthy New Year!!! |

hi my name is jackie douglas, and im 26 yrs old(27 in feb) i am a big fan of robert englund... i also look up to him as a father figure because my dad died when i was 12... my hobbies include skiing, swimming, bike riding, and im a beginner surfer, so i guess u can count surfing as a hobby... i love all scary movies as well... my faves are the freddy movies, rosemarys baby, and much more

Hello everyone. I'm Chris & I'm an alcohol... NM. Lol.
I'm 22, a full time college student pursuing a degree in communications with a specialty in either radio, television, or film. I hope to have my own radio show a day & write screenplays on the side. Creative writing is an outlet for me; I just don't get to do it often. I'm a brother of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-ed Public Service Fraternity. I love the horror genre, especially slasher flicks (Nightmare on Elm St. being my favorite) as well as psychological & supernatural thrillers. I like movies that make you think & will give you a good scare. Sometimes, it's what you don't see that scares you more. I'm deathly afraid of clowns after seeing the first 10 mins. of "IT" when I was in second grade. If you see me at a circus or carnival & there's a clown around, I bolt away from it like a bat out of Hell. I'm a huge wrestling fan & would love to become involved in that someday in some capacity as well. I watch WWE to kill braincells & support the local indys. I've been single now for 5 months after the last relationship ended in a rather Jerry Springeresque fashion. This is going to be my fifth Monster Mania show. Dave never ceases to put on amazing shows; he has something for everyone! I think that's me in a Nutshell. And oh yeah; I have little to no shame. Many people learned that meeting me for the first time in August. You'll find out too in May.

I am a full time college student working on my Human Development and Family Studies degree. I also work part time in a suvenior/toy store in the Philly airport. Hello all, My name is Bill and I'm 44 years old. I reside at the home of Wal-Mart, Bentonville, Arkansas. They are also my employers. I work at the return center warehouse 8098. I've just recently purchased a computer and discovered there's a world of different type of conventions out there. I had only been to one convention before and only knew about that because it is held in my hometown of Tulsa, Ok. I attended that convention the past 8 years. It is mainly a sci-fi con and I tried desperately to get them to bring in horror guests. They did bring in a few because of crossover into sci-fi, including two of my favorite horror stars, Bruce Campbell and Jeffrey Combs, for thier roles in Xena and Star Trek series respectively. But there was no way I would ever get the opportunity to meet people like George Romero, Robert Englund, etc at that convention. So I'm going to try out MM5. I love the lineup especially Lance Henriksen, George Romero, and Jeffrey Combs. I'm a little nervous about it because the convention I normally attend I buy a $300 ticket for the weekend and have an assigned seat and when the main stars signing time arrives they go row by row. The way I understand MM5 works is you just get in a line and wait and wait and wait and so on. I hope this isn't a stupid question or offend anyone but it sounds like it would be a free-for-all with shoving and pushing. Would someone maybe explain to me how it works and are you able to get autographs from a majority of the guests. If one of you had the time and would want to show me the ropes once I got there, that would be great and very much appreciated. I've got to warn you I'm really shy and don't say much. Don't let the length of this fool you, put me in front of a living, breathing person and you're lucky to get two words out of me. One last request, and I realize I'm new to MM5 and this board, but I think it would be great since Jeffrey Combs is going to be a guest to bring in Bruce Abbott and Barbara Crampton co-stars of Re-Animator or Ken Foree and Barbara Crampton co-stars of From Beyond. Thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy introduction and I'll see you in May.

Hi Bill! Welcome to the MM board! You will love MM. Wow, where to start, first off, I have been to all 4 MM's and have never missed seeing any of the celebs that I went for. Waiting in line is half the fun, you will meet so many great people. The lines and guest rooms are so well organized that all goes very smoothly. There is so much to see and do here, you wouldn't even use an assigned seat at this show. Another great aspect of this show, is the low cost to attend. You decide how much you spend here. You only pay for the autographs that you want at MM. And even if you don't collect autographs, there are always great movies and Q&A's to keep you entertained. Enjoy and keep posting!!!

My name is quite obviously....Nick....its nick...jm...My name is Dave.I have attened 3 of the 4 MM conventions.I heard about it from my cousin Matt and fell in love with the convention and the boardies.I try to frequent the boards but I'm not on it as much as I'd like.I'm 14 and I believe I hold the title of second youngest person on the boards.Going to the conventions I've met some great stars and made some life long friends.Its such a great event and I never want to leave but all good things must come to an end I guess.... Anyway I can't wait to see everyone in May,and welcome to all the newcomers. |

Welcome Bill!
Definitely agree with Mrs V as far as the show goes. It would never, ever be our intention to sell tickets at $300 a piece; we want the show to be available to all fans from a family on a tight budget to people with deep pockets. As Mrs V said, our intention is to allow people to dictate what they want to spend; you can buy a ticket for $17 and stay all day, meet the stars, take in the Q&A's and sit in the movie room til 2AM without spending another dime if you don't want to. For those who want to spend, you can brouse the dealers room, buy autographs, food, etc. at the show and wipe out your bank account if you want to. Also as Mrs V said, there's much too much for you to do at the show other than sitting in an assigned seat all day. The crowds are great, the staff is very friendly, the stars are wonderful, the dealers are always willing to show you their prized collectible and the hotel staff really enjoys the show as well. MM is a 3 day party with all like-minded people, kinda like a weekend slumber party with all your best friends. |
