i agree pretty much entirely with jeff - this was not a bad movie at all. if anything, it will be hurt only by the fact that m. night keeps insisting on publicly attaching his name to things after the damage "the happening," "the village," "lady in the water" did to his reputation... at this point i'd probably keep my name in the small print only and let the money roll in. ANYWAY, it was nice and short - about 80 minutes or so - and like mirror said, definitely comes full-circle by the end. my only problem is that it might come TOO full-circle, in that it wraps up a little too neatly for my taste, and in what felt like just 3-5 minutes at that (it's, like, just over all of a sudden and i personally found myself thinking, "really? that was it? just like that?"). my only other problem is that they have this weird narration going throughout the movie that sort of assumes stupidity on the part of the audience. granted, it's a voiceover of one of the peripheral characters, but it still explains such blatantly obvious stuff that it's pretty much gratuitous and not in a forgivable way. luckily it doesn't really take over the movie or anything so it's not too tough to get past. overall, not a bad way to spend an evening at the movies... certainly better than m. night's last few endeavors, but he also didn't direct this. i'd recommend.
